What is distraction
Distraction is a state of mind where a person can not focus on current work and thinks about other work, ideas and problems. Distraction is the biggest reason for the loss of productivity. People have time to accomplish a lot of things in their life span, but either they end up being a jack of all trades or they couldn’t achieve anything. Distraction is the evil of productivity and patients.

Why it happens
The biggest reason for distraction is we ourselves, as we allow our mind to distract, we allow it to think for other ideas and problems. In this internet age, all the solution are available in just one single click, so we have stopped asking questions to ourself and rather search on the internet. But once we found one thing we do not stop there as we continue to keep searching more and more, At last, we end up having more confusion on the topic.

How it affects
The distraction affects productivity badly, we don’t have clear answers to our questions, we don’t have a clear goal, we don’t have a path so we end up accomplishing nothing. The distraction cycle continues until our brain satisfies, we search for the answer again and again whenever we get the time and this becomes a habit. A habit which gives us dopamine in internet searches, in reading answers, in reading Quora or Reddit even if we don’t have any question we just scroll through, to get more questions and more answer.

How to avoid
As a saying unknown is the biggest enemy of man. A man’s biggest fear is unknown, once we face the unknown, it becomes known and we can fight it, we can win it. Now we know the enemy and answer to this question already exist in why it happens, The answer is, if you have a question try to find the answer inside you, what you want deep inside in your heart, what is the right thing for you. Ask yourself first, take your time to come with thoughts and still, you don’t find it go for the internet with a very specific question.

How to master it
A master trick I have is while doing work if something comes in your mind, write it down in a to-do list, once you finish current work, pick the to-do list and remove anything which you find irrelevant or not worthy to spend time for, and then you have a list of top tasks which are important for you. A general study is 80% of your thoughts are not relevant or just naive distraction, only 20% of thoughts need answers and are important for you.
